FAQ ABOUT CUSTOM SPRAY TANNING!!

How does it work?
The active ingredient is dihydroxyacetone (DHA) causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outer most layer of the skin. This reaction causes the color of the skin to change, producing a beautiful natural tan. DHA starts to react with the skin within 2 hours of the tan application and continues to do so for a total of 8-12 hours.

How should I prepare for my session?

For the maximum result, before your session, It is imperative that you exfoliate your skin the day before or even for a few days leading up to the Spray Tan. I recommend you use a washcloth with soap. Some sugar or salt scrubs contain oils that you want to avoid, plus those plastic loofas really dont slough off those dead skin cells. Exfoliation is important so the skin can be a clean even canvas. If the spray tan is applied on uneven skin, the older dead skin cells will come off first causing the tan to possibly fade poorly. Do any waxing or shaving 24 hours before. And remember..no oils, lotions, perfumes, deodorant the day of the tan.

How long until my tan develops?

You will see instant color due to a cosmetic bronzer. The actual tan will take from 9-12 hours to fully develop, so do NOT shower or get wet until that time as you will risk washing off the spray tan! When you finally shower you will see color washing off. Do not be alarmed as that is just the cosmetic bronzer that is washing off. You will have a beautiful tan underneath.
I do offer a Rapid Tan which you can shower within 2-4 hours after the application.

What should I wear?

Attire is usually underwear, swim suits or nothing at all. Discretion is followed and your comfort is the main priority. DHA can react with wool, nylon, and silk. These fabrics should not be worn during or immediately following your tanning session. Minors and Men are required to wear underwear, boxer shorts or a bathing suit.(no exceptions).  After the spray tan session wear something dark loose fitting, no bras or tight pants as it will cause the spray tan to smear and develop uneven.

How long will my tan last?

Depending on a person's activities and skin type, the tan lasts approximately 5-10 days. With follow up applications, a person can maintain the tan indefinitely.  Use lotion twice daily to help extend the life of your tan. Moisturizing is the most important step, 1 to 2 times a day will prolong the life of the tan and help it to wear off evenly. No bar soaps, alcohol or oils on your skin and of course no exfoliating until you’re ready for your next tan.
It is highly recommended to use a tanning extender from the salon to pro-long the life of the tan!!

Am I going to turn orange?

This is the most popular question.. Turning orange is a result of too much DHA being applied to your skin or poor product. I use beautiful bronze based products and custom apply the correct amount based on your skin tones. You will be glowing bronzed not orange!!

Can I Spray Tan if I am pregnant?

Most people are suitable to have a spray tan. We suggest that pregnant women consult with a doctor prior to scheduling an appointment.

How soon should I get a spray tan for my wedding or any big event?

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life. You have taken the time to make sure your dress, venue and other details are perfect. So don’t forget to make sure your spray tan is perfect as well!!

I recommend booking a trial a month or so in advance. This way you can get sprayed at least once if not twice beforehand. I also recommend to schedule your Wedding Day Spray Tan TWO Days before the big day!!!

I always say not all tans are created equal. Every blend contains different ingredients. Even if you have spray tanned 100 times, every salon carries different solution, all have different ingredients, cosmetic bronzers and fade. Just because you like one you may not like another. I customize a blend according to your skin tone and what level of tan you are going for. The spray contains a cosmetic bronzer so the true tan will be after you shower 8 + hours later. If you decide you want a little darker or a little lighter I can adjust it accordingly.
